The mature oak in the north and the towering red-pink barked
Scots Pine in the east contribute greatly to the feeling of space and light
within this wood. A central larch plantation provides a good contrast with
its dense growth and good potential for creating some very secluded areas.
In the west of the wood are a number of magnificent mature beeches with
chestnut coppice understorey. Deer sometimes make use of bracken with the
Scots Pine to create shelter. The wood is generally quite level and well
drained.
